The oil drain is always at the bottom to flush the oil pan of any debris that may have accumulated. You should also have a dip stick on the block, most likely on the same side as the oil filter to ensure you have added enough oil back in. Be sure to crank it a few times after an oil and filter change and check the oil level again in case there was air in the oil lines after the change.
