What sort of gas mileage do you get with your Ford Ranger?

I have a 2007 Ford Ranger 3.0 L V6 Super Cab (the one with the extra half-door and rear fold-up seats) with Automatic Transmission.

I got the truck with 3200km / 2000 miles on it.

I've been keeping track of my gas mileage for the past 5 months.

I've calculated my average as :

7.2 km/ l , or

17 mpg.

I do a mixture of highway and city driving with mostly highway driving.

According to the Ford Website, the Ranger gets 17 mpg city / 22 mpg hwy.

I do mostly hwy driving and I'm getting the city average.

My feeling is that the Ranger is a gas guzzilng little beast.

When my lease expires in 2 years I'm going Tacoma, or, what I really want, a hybrid or natural gas truck (if one becomes available).

I'm a greenie : ).

Thanks in advance for your feedback. What sort of gas mileage do you get with your Ford Ranger?I have a 2002 ranger 3.0L, Auto, Regular cab, 2WD. I have a K%26amp;N air filter which gave me a increase to 19-23. I would advise the same to you i think you will see a clear differnce. What sort of gas mileage do you get with your Ford Ranger?
but if you clean your air filter too much than your harming your motor from dirt \

air filters work best when there 20 percent plugged when the actually filter.

hey, i have a 1970 ford ranger with a 302cid. and i get about 11 to 14 mpg depending. i get bad milage because it's got a low gear ratio, made for towing but i still love it because it's all STEELWhat sort of gas mileage do you get with your Ford Ranger?sounds about right if that is your average. those averages from the factory are reached at optimum performance. they are not driving on any hills, perfect temp, no a/c on, and it is a short run for a baseline. normal driving will always be less than the sticker. What sort of gas mileage do you get with your Ford Ranger?
My Ranger is a 2001, 3.0, auto, supercab, 2WD. Most of my driving is highway and I get 21 mpg.

When you're on the highway, do u use cruise control? And what speed are you going? I ask 'cuz cruise helps mpg and if you're going faster than 65, u r actually losing mpg. Also, is there usually weight in the bed? You didn't say whether yours is 2 or 4WD. Other factors are adequate tire pressure, jackrabbit starts and proper engine tuning. Of course, with yours being relatively new, it shouldn't need spark plugs.

I've reached the conclusion however, that if u really want (need) fuel efficiency, u have to get a 4 cyl.
I have a 1988 Ford Ranger V6 2.9L Standard Cab with Manual Transmission. I get about the same gas mileage as you right now its hard to tell exactly how much I'm getting because my gas guage is messed up. The previous owner of my truck said that the most he got out of it was 19 mpg.

I hope this helps!!!!What sort of gas mileage do you get with your Ford Ranger?
With clean air filter and fuel filter , properly inflated tires, you should get approx 19 in town and 22-23 on the highway.

look at the way you drive , rapid acceleration and hard breaking will reduce your mileage.

keeping the air filter clean is one of the best ways to insure that the engine is not deprived of air.
