What could i do to make my 2003 Ford Taurus Cooler?
Lets be honest now, the Ford Taurus isn't a very cool car. Do any of you have an idea of how i could maybe make it a little more showy and cool. Even though the Taurus is not too "cool" to most people I love mine and its an 04. I've added blue glow in the cab, and two 12s so far and plan on replacing the stock speakers later on. I want to try going to an Open Call to sign with Ford Plus. How hard is it? What should I expect at the open call?

They run you through endless red tape, time and expense. And a government inspector is part of the whole thing, and he can make it as expensive as he wants for you. This will be the biggest and most espensive mightmare you can imagine if you try it. So unless you've got thousands of dollars to spend I wouldn't do it. Not to mention the 8-12 months it will take for all the different government agencies to sign off on the car.

How compatible are Ford sunroof assemblies?
I am looking in to purchasing a sunroof assembly for a 2004 Ford Taurus SES. I'm having trouble finding an exact 2004 model assembly. Would a 2000-2003 Sable (almost identical to the Taurus) assembly work? A 2000-2001 Ford Explorer assembly? A 2006 Taurus assembly?

You have a 5.4 which is an excellent platform. Start by figuring out exactly how much power you would like to make, what your going to be using it for (daily driver, racing ). If you would just like a little more power start out by getting a nice exhaust system(headers, catback) then you can move right into changing the throttle body mass airflow sensor plenum cold air intake a custom tune different rear end gear ratios. For big power and best bang for your buck i recommend a nice supercharger set up nitrous or a turbo kit. You could also go with a NA setup nice heads and cams. CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
Move the seat fully rearward.
If equipped with adjustable pedal system, move to the full forward position.
WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any air bag system components. To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery to starter relay cable and wait one minute.
Disconnect the battery cables.
Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301).
Disconnect the battery to starter relay cable (14300) and wait one minute for the backup power supply to be depleted.
Position the power distribution box aside.
Release the mounting tabs.
Remove the bulkhead electrical connectors from inside the engine compartment.
Loosen the bolts.
Disconnect the bulkhead electrical connectors.
Remove the bulkhead electrical connector insulator.
Unclip the bulkhead electrical connectors from the dash panel.
If equipped, remove the front floor console. For additional information, refer to Console鈥擣loor, Front in this section.
Remove the lower instrument panel steering column cover. For additional information, refer to Instrument Panel鈥擲teering Column Cover in this section.
Remove the valance panel.
Remove the two pin-type retainers and release the expander clip.
Disconnect the electronic blend door actuator electrical connector.
Release the wiring harness locators.
Remove the LH instrument panel insulator.
Disconnect the climate control head vacuum harness connector.
Remove the LH and RH scuff plates.
Position the LH and RH door weatherstrip seals aside.
Remove the LH and RH A-pillar lower trim panels.
Remove the RH assist handle (31406).
Remove the covers.
Remove the bolts.
Remove the LH and RH windshield side garnish mouldings (03598).
Disconnect the brake pedal position (BPP) switch electrical connector.
Release the wiring harness locator.
If equipped, disconnect the adjustable pedal motor electrical connector.
If equipped, disconnect the adjustable pedal motor harness electrical connector.
Remove the (A) radio ground and the (B) generic electronic module (GEM)/central timer module (CTM) ground bolts.
Disconnect the LH instrument panel main wiring harness connectors and bulkhead connector.
Loosen the bolt.
Disconnect the electrical connectors and bulkhead connector.
Release the main wiring harness locators.
Remove the instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement (04502).
Remove the nuts.
Remove the instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement.
Disconnect the (A) air bag sliding contact electrical connectors and the (B) anti-theft sensor electrical connector.
Disconnect the remaining electrical connectors on the steering column.
Disconnect the transmission range indicator from the steering column.
Remove the bolt.
Disconnect the cable.
Lower the steering column (3C529).
Remove the nuts.
Lower the steering column.
Remove the instrument panel bolts through the steering column opening.
Remove the instrument panel reinforcement bolt below the LH corner of the cigar lighter and power point.
Disconnect the inertia fuel shutoff switch electrical connector.
Remove the RH ground bolt.
If equipped, disconnect the air suspension switch electrical connector.
Remove the RH instrument panel insulator.
Disconnect the RH instrument panel main harness connectors.
Release all the wiring harness locators from the cowl side panel.
Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
If equipped, disconnect the electronic automatic temperature control (EATC) hose from the evaporator case.
Disconnect the restraint control module (RCM) electrical connector.
Release the locking tab.
Disconnect the RCM electrical connector.
Release the wiring harness locators.
Position the RH front fender splash shield away from the dash panel.
Remove the screws.
Remove the pin-type retainer.
Position the RH front fender splash shield away from the dash panel.
Disconnect the antenna lead-in cable from the antenna base.
Feed the antenna lead-in cable through the body.
Unseat the antenna lead-in cable grommet.
Feed the antenna lead-in cable through the cowl side panel.
Remove the instrument panel relay cover (044F46).
Remove the instrument panel relay cover.
If equipped, disconnect the autolamp sensor electrical connector.
If equipped, disconnect the sunload sensor electrical connector.
Remove the glove compartment. For additional information, refer to Glove Compartment.
WARNING: Always wear safety glasses when removing and handling an air bag.

Lower the steering column (3C529).
Remove the nuts.
Lower the steering column.
Remove the instrument panel bolts through the steering column opening.
Remove the instrument panel reinforcement bolt below the LH corner of the cigar lighter and power point.
Disconnect the inertia fuel shutoff switch electrical connector.
Remove the RH ground bolt.
If equipped, disconnect the air suspension switch electrical connector.
Remove the RH instrument panel insulator.
Disconnect the RH instrument panel main harness connectors.
Release all the wiring harness locators from the cowl side panel.
Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
If equipped, disconnect the electronic automatic temperature control (EATC) hose from the evaporator case.
Disconnect the restraint control module (RCM) electrical connector.
Release the locking tab.
Disconnect the RCM electrical connector.
Release the wiring harness locators.
Position the RH front fender splash shield away from the dash panel.
Remove the screws.
Remove the pin-type retainer.
Position the RH front fender splash shield away from the dash panel.
Disconnect the antenna lead-in cable from the antenna base.
Feed the antenna lead-in cable through the body.
Unseat the antenna lead-in cable grommet.
Feed the antenna lead-in cable through the cowl side panel.
Remove the instrument panel relay cover (044F46).
Remove the instrument panel relay cover.
If equipped, disconnect the autolamp sensor electrical connector.
If equipped, disconnect the sunload sensor electrical connector.
Remove the glove compartment. For additional information, refer to Glove Compartment.

My 206,000 mile 1995 Ford Aerostar a/c just went out. The compressor does not come on and when i put a Gauge on it there is no pressure. How should i proceed if i want to repair it myself. I inherited a 67 Ford Truck from my dad. The motor is not orginal, it came stock with a 352. He always told me it had a 302 engine in it, but i was reading an article in a 4x4 magazine and it described a 351W (6 valve cover bolts, upper radiator hose and thermostat, enters the intake horizonatally). Thats what my motor looks like. Are there any other ways to tell them apart from the outside? First of all the 352 is a completly different motor from the 302/351w series it has a very wide and flat intake manifold..the most identifiable feature on it is that the valve cover actually over laps the joint between the intake manifold and the cylinder head and 3? of the valve cover bolts attach to the intake manifold.
on the 302/351w motors the valve cover bolts solely to the cylinder head. one of the easiest ways to determine a 302 vs 351w is at the back of the intake manifold the flat part that bridges the vally on the 302 it is strait for about 5inches with a little curve on one side where as on the 351 the bridge is curved all the way across.
get the serial # off block and call engine rebuilders or look on line to find out what you have.
nothing personal, i listened to other peep on and engine they said it was a 390 so i rebuilt got kit for 390 and it was a 360.
get serial# off block do it right.

1. Low coolant level - Remove your radiator cap and check your coolant level. If the level is low, there is not enough coolant entering the heater core to make it heat up.
2. Clogged heater core - Remove your radiator cap and take a look at the condition of the coolant. If the coolant is not a bright green color or if you see a mud like substance in your radiator or in your overflow tank, than your heater core is clogged.
3. Wrong thermostat or defective thermostat - This is rare but you may have a defective thermostat or even have installed the incorrect one.
4. Air in the cooling system. Did you bleed the air out of the cooling system after you replaced the thermostat? If not, there are probably some air pockets in the system that need to be bled out.

If you have a new thermostadt..and there is no leak in the heater core...If your coolant/water ratio (too much coolant) is not correct it can affect wether or not the heater works properly. If you changed out the thermostadt then possibly there might be too much coolant.
Might also check the heater switch.
Actually stush30 knows what Im talking about...that there is a reason there is a ratio of water and coolant..rather than just fill it with coolant. Just because the rpm's are lower..doesnt slow the flow of water...the water pump continues to pump the water through the engine at a constant rate, and has nothing to do with rpm's.
Drain maybe little less than half from the radiator...refill with water...and check your heater...if it doesnt work for you..no damage done!

If you don't change the battery with in 20 secs. the program is going to be disabled? is it true? Towing capacity will vary with rear end ratio, payload package selection, whether or not it has the factory towing package, which engine it has, 4WD Vs. 2WD, etc. But ballpark would be around 5000 pounds for the 4.6L with the 3.08 or 3.31 rear end to up around 9000 pounds for the 5.4L with HD payload package, towing package and 3.73 or 4.10 gears.
As for speed. IIRC there is a governor on these trucks that limits top speed to under 100 MPH. These vehicles are not fast even with the 5.4L they are rather lethargic in stock form. The 4.6L is a joke in the 04-08 models. The 04-08's weigh around 400-800+ pounds more than the previous 97-03 trucks. Realistically I wouldn't tow more than 5000-6000 pounds with a 5.4L truck and probably wouldn't tow anything other than maybe a jetski with a 4.6L truck
Both engines were designed to run on 87 octane. Using 93 octane will yield no benefit with the stock tune.

I am looking in to purchasing a sunroof assembly for a 2004 Ford Taurus SES. I'm having trouble finding an exact 2004 model assembly. Would a 2000-2003 Sable (almost identical to the Taurus) assembly work? A 2000-2001 Ford Explorer assembly? A 2006 Taurus assembly?

I own a '98 Ford Taurus with 150,000 miles on it. In the past few months it has started to make an awful rubbery squealing noise when I turn the steering wheel. Does anyone know how much this might cost me to fix? I don't plan on keeping this car much longer (maybe 6 more months). Is it worth fixing before I sell it or should I sell it as is?
One more issue with it. Every now and then, the Taurus won't start without hitting the gas right as the engine turns over, and not just a little tap on the gas, I really have to rev it to get it going. This happens randomly and without any warning signs. The battery is only a year old.

I have a 4 cylinder 2000 Ford contour that is not running very good while idling. It runs just fine while driving, but anytime I stop at a stop sign or I am driving real slow it doesn't run very smooth. It is a automatic and has 175XXX miles it. Do that and replace the plugs and wires if you haven't had that done in the last 30000 miles. Double check the life of your O2 sensors. You should be good to go.

What kind of power does my 2006 Ford F-150 XLT crew cab have in the engine?
I drive a 2006 Ford F150 XLT crew cab completely stock. What kind of power does it have and what sort of towing capacity does it have. Also what is it's projected top speed with 93 octane gasoline?
Thanks!What kind of power does my 2006 Ford F-150 XLT crew cab have in the engine?With 4.6L it will have 231 HP. With the 5.4L it will have 300 HP. Towing capacity will vary with rear end ratio, payload package selection, whether or not it has the factory towing package, which engine it has, 4WD Vs. 2WD, etc. But ballpark would be around 5000 pounds for the 4.6L with the 3.08 or 3.31 rear end to up around 9000 pounds for the 5.4L with HD payload package, towing package and 3.73 or 4.10 gears.
As for speed. IIRC there is a governor on these trucks that limits top speed to under 100 MPH. These vehicles are not fast even with the 5.4L they are rather lethargic in stock form. The 4.6L is a joke in the 04-08 models. The 04-08's weigh around 400-800+ pounds more than the previous 97-03 trucks. Realistically I wouldn't tow more than 5000-6000 pounds with a 5.4L truck and probably wouldn't tow anything other than maybe a jetski with a 4.6L truck

Thanks!What kind of power does my 2006 Ford F-150 XLT crew cab have in the engine?With 4.6L it will have 231 HP. With the 5.4L it will have 300 HP. Towing capacity will vary with rear end ratio, payload package selection, whether or not it has the factory towing package, which engine it has, 4WD Vs. 2WD, etc. But ballpark would be around 5000 pounds for the 4.6L with the 3.08 or 3.31 rear end to up around 9000 pounds for the 5.4L with HD payload package, towing package and 3.73 or 4.10 gears.
As for speed. IIRC there is a governor on these trucks that limits top speed to under 100 MPH. These vehicles are not fast even with the 5.4L they are rather lethargic in stock form. The 4.6L is a joke in the 04-08 models. The 04-08's weigh around 400-800+ pounds more than the previous 97-03 trucks. Realistically I wouldn't tow more than 5000-6000 pounds with a 5.4L truck and probably wouldn't tow anything other than maybe a jetski with a 4.6L truck

My Ford Explorer is out of warranty and has 40,000 miles on it. When I get it up to 25 mph, but no faster, I hear a thud like it is shifting hard in the transmission. I own a '98 Ford Taurus with 150,000 miles on it. In the past few months it has started to make an awful rubbery squealing noise when I turn the steering wheel. Does anyone know how much this might cost me to fix? I don't plan on keeping this car much longer (maybe 6 more months). Is it worth fixing before I sell it or should I sell it as is?
One more issue with it. Every now and then, the Taurus won't start without hitting the gas right as the engine turns over, and not just a little tap on the gas, I really have to rev it to get it going. This happens randomly and without any warning signs. The battery is only a year old.

2000 Ford Contour not running very good while idling?
I have a 4 cylinder 2000 Ford contour that is not running very good while idling. It runs just fine while driving, but anytime I stop at a stop sign or I am driving real slow it doesn't run very smooth. It is a automatic and has 175XXX miles it. Do that and replace the plugs and wires if you haven't had that done in the last 30000 miles. Double check the life of your O2 sensors. You should be good to go.

A number of other parts on the FFV's fuel delivery system are modified to be ethanol-compatible. The fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel injectors, computer system and anti-siphon device have been modified slightly. Alcohol fuels can be more corrosive than gasoline. Therefore; fuel system parts have been upgraded to be ethanol-compatible.
Ultimately it is a drivers choice, but we do need to be firm in recommending that only FFVs use E85 and to state that we are not responsible for damages.

I just crashed my 96 ford escort (it was bound to happen in this ice skate) and now the steering wheel is COMPLETLY loose. I know I broke the tie rods (?) on the drivers side, but the passangers side is fine. (Wont turn though) The car still runs and is fine, I would like to save it.
