I can't even remember what we did. I feel awful, though I can distinguish between, making love, and just sex. I honestly only have snippets of recollection. My boyfriend is incredible, and there is no way of justifying what I have done. I am not afraid to confess. if that is the right, and honorable way, then that is what I have to do. Though only if it is in his interest, and if there is a point in him knowing. I had no intention of doing that, and have no intention to do so again. My girlfriend has a 1998 Ford Taurus 4 cyl, with the automatic on the column. Lately, when she shifts the car into drive, it jerks forward when she pressed the accelerator. I have a braking system question for you. The vehicle I drive is a 1994 Ford Taurus 4 door sedan w/ automatic transmission with a 3.0 L engine and standard hydraulic brakes (not ABS).
I was recently on a drive and was comming to a stop light. When I applied the brakes there was some firmness, then the entire pedal sank to the floor. I pumped the brakes but no response. I ended up ditching the car into someones yard and took out some shrubs, to avoid entering a busy intersection. After the car was towed and inspected, it appears that my rear brake lines had become rusty and had a hydraulic rupture.
I have always be under the impression that the front and rear braking systems were independent, so that if one failed you still have some braking function from the other.

Your front brakes didn't work because all the fluid leaked out. No brake fluid means no normal brakes. You should still have some braking ability because the parking brake is totally seperate.

2. Look for a safe place to steer your car and quickly downshift to low gear (this applies to both manual and automatic transmissions).
3. Build up your brake pressure by pumping the brake pedal fast and firmly. It should take three or four pumps to get the brakes to work. Don't pump anti-lock brakes -- press down hard on them instead and plan on taking longer to stop. It is normal to feel pulsation at the brake pedal if you have anti-lock brakes.
4. Use your parking brake if the pumping solution is ineffective or not recommended. Release it quickly if the car starts to skid.
5. Don't forget to steer. Swerve only if it's absolutely necessary -- doing so can cause you to lose control of the car.
6. Throw your car into reverse if all else fails. Note that this can cause serious damage to your transmission. (This does not actually work. Your automatic transmission will lock into neutral and shut the car off which causes you to lose power steering too. Manual transmissions will not go into gear either they will just grind.)

- Sounding your horn and flashing your headlights will warn other motorists.
- Turn on your emergency flashers once you've come to a complete stop.
- Try to remain calm - panicking can cause you to make mistakes.

- Do not drive for any long period of time with the brake light on. Add brake fluid and go see your mechanic.

Over heating on Ford Taurus after changing radiator?
I just changed out a radiator on a 1998 Ford Taurus because it was pulling the transmission fluid into the cooling system, but wasn't running hot. Now it's running hot. What did I do wrong?Over heating on Ford Taurus after changing radiator?When refilling the cooling system, air becomes trapped at highest point. This is due to the thermostat being closed. Once the engine is started the void does not disappear until the thermostat has opened. In the mean time the highest point, meaning the head(s), are deprived of coolant. Damage could occur.
To rectify this condition, loosen a heater hose at the engine to allow the air to purge while filling. Once the coolant appears quickly replace the hose. Fill the radiator %26amp; the expansion tank to the COLD level. Leave the rad. cap loose. Allow the engine to come to operating temperature. DO NOT stand near the rad. with the engine running. Shut engine down. Allow engine to cool for ten minutes. Recheck coolant level.

Also, your truck has torsion bars, it does not have coil springs. Just unscrew the tension bolt on your torsion bars to lower the front, it is very easy. One note of caution, DO NOT adjust your torsion bars while the truck is on the ground, ALWAYS have it in a set of jack stands. You'll have to remove the cylinder completely. Just make sure you don't trip the security ignition interlock system (if if has one). That would cut off the fuel pump. You can replace the factory radio in your car with any single din radio. There is a dash kit that you need thats costs around 80 dollars and replaces the whole dash peice w/ the a/c knowbs and all. If it is digital, you can get a digital dash kit. You can pick them up at a local Best Buy or Circuit City. Good Luck.

Go ahead and drain the fluid out of the resorvior before disconnecting the line on the front , it can be messy. An old turkey baster or syphon pump works well. The pulley will have to be pressed off the shaft of the pump, but most parts stores should do it for free if your buying a new pulley or pump. A new pulley runs about 10$ and the pump about 50 -60$. The pumps on those 3.0L aren't know for being very strong so if you already go though the trouble of taking it off you may just want to replace it, plus it will make the vehicle steer smoother. It can help to use a power steering rack and pinion renew additive to lubricate and protect the internals, quiets the whining alot of ford make too. Lucas makes a great product for about 7$.

I want to put a sub into my 03 ford fiesta but don't want to pay for a new radio, does anyone know if you can fit it to the factory fitted radio? Many companies make a factory add on woofer that's actually have an amplifier built in. Including MTX, Infinity, Bazooka, and many many more... These type subwoofers often include all wires and brackets needed to install. Often they blend in or hide away to keep the factory look. Crutchfield.com carries a large selection. Call them up and tell them your needs to get a better ideal of your options. Even if you do not intend to buy from them. They are very helpful and carry thousands of brands. I have recommended do it yourselfers to them plenty of times because they are not bias compared to brand specific dealers.Can you fit a sub to a ford factory radio?Yes and it is rather easy but the negative side is since the factory head unit wasn't set up to run subs so the sound quality you get isn't optimal. Such as you have to have the bass turned down so you don't blow your stock speakers and with it down it effects how loud you can get your sub in regards to the highs and mids.Can you fit a sub to a ford factory radio?All you need to do is wire a cross over network to the factory speakers to separate out the sub base frequencies and use the leads from the cross over to power the sub-base. No need to pull the radio.

Hello, My Ford Mustang will not start. When I turn the key the engine makes a clicking noise.
However, The lights/radio still work. I tried to get a jump start and that didn't work either. However the guy I got the jump start from reccomended that I get someone and let the battery charge for 20 min. Is this the case? Or is there another problem?

You are having a problem either with the starter, the starter solenoid or a bad connection somewhere in the cables connecting the battery voltage to the starter. If it is a manual, you can try to coast start it. Next step is to disconnect the battery and charge it, and while it's charging, do a good cleaning job on the ends of the cables with a wire brush. I kind of preffer the Altima. Because I think is a longer lasting car when compared with a Ford Focus. The altima has a lot of space im the back. And it looks very confortable.

I have a 2007 Ford Ranger 3.0 L V6 Super Cab (the one with the extra half-door and rear fold-up seats) with Automatic Transmission.
I got the truck with 3200km / 2000 miles on it.
I've been keeping track of my gas mileage for the past 5 months.
I've calculated my average as :
7.2 km/ l , or
17 mpg.
I do a mixture of highway and city driving with mostly highway driving.
According to the Ford Website, the Ranger gets 17 mpg city / 22 mpg hwy.
I do mostly hwy driving and I'm getting the city average.
My feeling is that the Ranger is a gas guzzilng little beast.
When my lease expires in 2 years I'm going Tacoma, or, what I really want, a hybrid or natural gas truck (if one becomes available).

When you're on the highway, do u use cruise control? And what speed are you going? I ask 'cuz cruise helps mpg and if you're going faster than 65, u r actually losing mpg. Also, is there usually weight in the bed? You didn't say whether yours is 2 or 4WD. Other factors are adequate tire pressure, jackrabbit starts and proper engine tuning. Of course, with yours being relatively new, it shouldn't need spark plugs.

look at the way you drive , rapid acceleration and hard breaking will reduce your mileage.

When starting my truck when it's cold, it takes quite a few cranks to start up.
When it's warm, it starts right away.
What would be the cause of it taking so many cold turns to start up?
What would be the fix?

Secondly, how cold are you talking about. It's been a cold winter, so if you are talking about zero or below, something like that, it IS going to crank a few more times. On a diesel, the oil is usually higher viscosity, and there is more of it. Also, the low temperatures affect the fuel as well.
You should investigate a quality synthetic oil, which will not be as hard to turn in the winter, and perhaps some cetane boost for the fuel.

If it is cold outside, the block is colder and takes a bit longer for the glow plugs to get it to the heat needed to ignite the diesel fuel.
If it is only recently doing this, check out the Glow Plugs and the wires connected to them. The truck is 17 years old and their probably either the originals or still quite a few years old. That motor will last forever, you are lucky to have the tried and true 7.3.

You could always use winter treatment in the fuel to keep it from jelling and clogging the fuel filters. It will also keep your injectors clean. A block heater will also make it easier to start.

I am upgrading from a Ford Ka (1.3l) to a BMW 3 series (1.6l)

The Ford Ka is technically slower although being smaller and less refined may well feel faster. It will also be a bit more fun to drive. The Ka handles like a roller skate and even with the lack of power compared to the BMW would probably be faster on a twisty road.
The 316 is a heavy car with a small engine and I personally wouldn't buy one.
I'd run a Ka until I have saved up enough cash to buy a 325/328/330.
The 316 will however feel like a limo compared to a Ka. Smooth, comfortable and quiet.
Oh and I agree with JG until he said the Ka would cost more to run. I can't over emphasise how wrong this is. Fords are a lot more reliable than they used to be and BMW's aren't as reliable as people would have you believe. To be honest neither are bad in terms of reliability but for routine servicing any BMW, even a 316, is going to be far more expensive than a Ka. Tyres will be more expensive, insurance will be more expensive and it will get worse MPG.
I can't get over how silly anyone who thinks a BMW of any sort will be cheaper to run than a Ka is!

In town driving the 316 was Only returning 27mpg (my 2.4 Volvo estate manages that). The main differences you'll find over your Ka are comfort will be increased greatly as will reliability, safety, room and street cred. The downsides however will be the majorly increased cost of ownership through fuel, insurance, parts and servicing.
If on the other hand it is the newer (approx) 99 onwards (the face lifted model) it although badged as a 316 is infact a 1.8 litre engine and deals much better with the cars weight hence returning better mpg and better performance.
