How does one side of people have so many problems with FORD, but the other side never has a problem with them?

Our family has had a MESS of problems with FORD until we switched to brands like Honda, Toyota, and Jeep, and all the problems have reduced DRAMATICALLY, whereas my other side of the family are FORD people and they LOVE their FORDs.

How does that happen? And it's without a doubt we all took good care of our cars! We're not rich and we weren't going to let a $30,000 car go to crap! How does one side of people have so many problems with FORD, but the other side never has a problem with them?Drove Ford's, though only bought what was reliable, each car has it's own problemsHow does one side of people have so many problems with FORD, but the other side never has a problem with them?
It all boils down to what vehicle and how well cared for it is. I've had most brands of vehicle out there and worked in dealerships for most of them as well. I've had several Fords that never had a major issue, as well as one that was a constant problem. I've had two nearly Identical Chevys, one that only ever needed routine maintenance and one that has been a problem since the day I drove it off the lot. And I've had VW's, Hondas, and I currently drive a Toyota (which is the biggest piece of junk I've ever owned, although my father has a similar truck with 427,000 miles with only very minor repairs needed from time to time) All manufacturers cars have problems, they all break, and they all wear out. It's the nature of all things mechanical. How does one side of people have so many problems with FORD, but the other side never has a problem with them?I have been driving Fords since 1966, starting with a Falcon and then going with Mustangs, 71, 76, 86, and 2000, the latest, I'm still driving. It seems to me that if you buy a NEW vehicle and perform reasonable, not fanatical, maintainance, they will last a long time. I have wrung mine out like dishrags. People do not sell good Fords, they keep them. If you buy used, you are certain to buy problems.

Also bear in mind that a rear wheel drive V8 will last a LOT longer than a front wheel drive 6. If you buy a 4 cylinder, you can consider it dead or dieing from day one. So you can't say good Fords and bad Fords. You have to compare same with same.

Then there is also the factor of luck. Some cars, no matter what brand, are built better than others. How does one side of people have so many problems with FORD, but the other side never has a problem with them?
you ought to know better when you buy a ford it stands for (fix or repair daily) all my families fords were junk also so don't think your wrong i know some 2 of my co workers who swear they are the best even though one guy with an 06 powerstroke always has problems come winter and ends up forking out 1k plus and the other guys 99 powerstroke suspension sounds like an old mattress about to shoot springs everwhere. but they never say anything bad about them or complain i guess they think that's normal wear and tear . also they are aggies no offense if you are but it seems like you always see ford guys with crooked or backwards a%26amp;m decals where as the gm guys are hook em horns fans so who knows i do know that the ford superdutys are roomier inside vs the chevy's but i guess less space inside is a smaller price to pay than all those repair bills. How does one side of people have so many problems with FORD, but the other side never has a problem with them?Need the facts joe. Opinions got to be sorted. The U. S. A. make very good cars, take a look at the food focus thats on the top of the list for good cars, over All in that class. All this talk about honda, toyota, its the beginning of there end. U.S.A. is on top now! LOOK AT THE FACTS JOE!How does one side of people have so many problems with FORD, but the other side never has a problem with them?
It has to do with luck as there is no way to tell when a car is a "lemon" when you buy it.
I've owned Ford's for years and I've only ever had major problems with one because the previous owner never maintained it and I got stuck with all of the repairs.

It's the luck of the draw, if you get one that has been well maintained you should not have any problems. A car regardless of what make it is, is only as good as how it has been maintained. A poorly maintained car will cause you nothing but problems and can be a money pit, while a well maintained car can give you years of worry free driving.

I have a 98 Ford Crown Victoria that has about 150,000 miles on it. Since I do all of the oil changes and maintenance on it this car has been a pleasure to own and drive. I have never had any problems or break downs, and that is because I maintain it.

Chances are if the Ford you had was causing you problems even while maintaining it you might have gotten a lemon. This can happen with any car maker. I've know people who bought Honda's and Toyota's that were problems from the beginning and they swore they would never own an import again. It's not that Ford, Toyota and Honda's are junk, it's just once in a while someone does get stuck with a lemon.
