How do I remove my ign cylinder without having a key, 94 ford explorer.?

94 ford explorer, I lost my only key. How do I remove the ign cylinder? Can I drill the steering column so I can depress the lock mechanism like we do at GM? Any help or reference material would be appreciated. How do I remove my ign cylinder without having a key, 94 ford explorer.?We always remove the lower steering column cover and use a punch to drive the pin into the lock cylinder. The pin can be pushed into the cylinder with the key in the on position, but with no key, it must be driven into the cylinder. Then a large screwdriver, or if needed, a dent puller will remove the lock cylinder. There is a small tee behind a metal plate that still keeps the cylinder in, thus the dent puller. How do I remove my ign cylinder without having a key, 94 ford explorer.?Disconnect battery.

You will have to remove the steering wheel and cowling.

After that turn the ignition to run. Look in the back/bottom of the steering colum, there will be a small square opening to put a screwdriver into. slide the screwdriver in and ytou should be able to push and depress a plunger in the swithc. The switch should slide straight out.
