My Ford Explorer is out of warranty and has 40,000 miles on it. When I get it up to 25 mph, but no faster, I hear a thud like it is shifting hard in the transmission. Before I take it to a mechanic so they can lie to me and tell me I need a new transmission, has anyone else had this problem?Is there a problem with my 2002 Ford Explorer transmission?If you have 40k on it now would be the time to have a transmission service done on it , that may solve your problem and its like $30.Any oil change place can do that and its cheaper than a dealer. It sounds like its the U- joint ,also not very expensive . you need to get the transmission reprogrammed . you may want to to change your fluid and filter if the vehicle shudders.
