I have a 1965 FORD F100 I am restoring. I would like to know the best and safest way to clean the gas tank.Best way to clean a gas tank on a antique ford truck? If its full of rust first check on a new tank.
Some of those old tanks are not super expensive. If not the next thing to do is to take it to a radiator shop and have them clean and seal it.
Then you will have no trouble what so ever. The last thing you want is to try and get the rust out yourself and not get it and fight that problem forever..................%26amp;%26amp;%26amp;Best way to clean a gas tank on a antique ford truck?
The best way I know of to clean a gas tank is to use a sealer kit such as one of those on the link below.
These kits come with a cleaner, etcher, and sealer that will cover your tank with a coating that will cure the rust problem for you.
I've used these on motorcycle tanks and they can also seal small pinholes that are a result of rust.

Rinse and repeat just like shampoo. If a lot of rust comes out just replace tank its not worth clogging fuel filters.Best way to clean a gas tank on a antique ford truck?
You can flush it with AquaKlean. The AquaKlean will de-gas it and clean it. Mix the AquaKlean down with Hot Water for best results.
