My Ford Focus is due a service and MOT on friday. I was wondering if it is advisable to spend 拢180 and take it to an independant garage who I know do good work, or spend 拢140 and let ford do the work.
I have heard bad things about Ford garages in the past, in partcular not fitting all the stuff that comes in a 'service pack' when the carry out services. Is it better to take it to Ford or an independant garage?I am in the US but would say definitely go to the independent guy you trust instead the Ford dealership. A focus is not so unique that only the dealer can service it effectively. A hybrid car or something else weird would probably have to go to the dealer. Is it better to take it to Ford or an independant garage?
I've got a year old Focus and had to take my custom (well the lease companies custom) elsewhere, after the 4th service they gave it, car wasn't ready when said etc. The new place I take it is worlds apart, both a reputable Ford main dealers by the way, and about 10 minutes drive apart, you would think there would be some standard practices to adhere to! Thanks to the new place, 92k and running better than ever :)Is it better to take it to Ford or an independant garage?I would use the independant garage, used Ford a few years ago for a recon engine %26amp; it cost well over 拢2000 a load of parts i did not need %26amp; are still in my cupboard %26amp; ruined my Alarm system which had remote locking etc %26amp; to top it all had to be returned after 3 weeks because the new engine was faulty %26amp; had to be replaced, I finally got my car back after a further 4 weeks. I would never use a main agent again !!.
Yes, if you know and trust the independant, go there.
I don't think main dealers are particularly good. Over the years, I've owned many makes of car, and the weak point of ownership has always been the level of customer service at the dealership. Is it better to take it to Ford or an independant garage?I normally go with whoever is the cheapest. In my case it was an independant garage up the road from me, who serviced my old car. When I had a new Ford Fiesta, when it was due for 1st service Ford was charging more.Is it better to take it to Ford or an independant garage?
If your car is still under warranty, then definitely take it to the Ford dealership. If not, however, you are better off to find a trustworthy independent mechanic to do the work. Most dealerships don't have the best of customer service, and Ford shops are notorious for doing poor work.
Thats just my two cents.
If the car is under Warranty, make sure the service is done using genuine Ford parts. You no longer have to have cars serviced by the main dealerships.
If you have a claim under Warranty, you must take it to a Ford Dealership. Is it better to take it to Ford or an independant garage?
the advantage of taking it to FORD is any spare parts needed they have them! as for trustworthy will you tell me if you find one
If the car is still under warranty, or was bought with Ford Finance it may be a condition of the policies that you get it serviced at a Ford Main dealer, failure to do so may mean you default on either/both the warranty or finance agreement, be VERY careful about this.
Take it to the independent, they will be able to get all service parts the same day,and now something called block exemption meens that any warranty work will still be coverd by ford in the future...
I am a sales rep withen the industry and believe me that franchaise garages rip people off///
take it to ford, there guys should know more about your car than a general shop. since your having the MOT definitly go to ford.
