How reliable is the Ford Windstar some of these vans look real good so my question is how reliable are they?

So did the Ford Windstar put out a bad year for these vans and if so what year were they bad in such as 96 /2000 ????How reliable is the Ford Windstar some of these vans look real good so my question is how reliable are they?Ah, I can speak from experience on this one. Pretty much all years of Windstars are below average in reliability. Here's a rundown of Windstars in my family



1995 Windstar (company car) : Transmission failed at 40k miles, headgaskets failed at 68k miles. transmission failed again at 88k miles. car was turned back in @ 100k miles



1995.5 Windstar (family car) : head gaskets failed at 50k miles, 1st transmission failed at 63k, catalytic converter failed at 98k, 2 transmission failed at 120k, car was junked after that



1998 Windstar (company car) transmission failed at 60k miles, car turned back in @ 100k miles



2001 Windstar (company car) transmission failed at 80k miles, head gaskets failed at 88k miles. car turned back in at 100k miles



2003 Windstar (company car) transmission failed at 65k miles, car turned back in at 100k milesHow reliable is the Ford Windstar some of these vans look real good so my question is how reliable are they?
The 95 to 98 3.8L engines had head gasket problems. 3.0 L engines built in Lima Ohio are ok.







I own a 2000 windstar with 150k miles. The only issue I have is that two of the electric door locks don't work. And the retracting cup holder is broken.



I did have a check engine light for lean codes. Ford put out a service bulliten - I had to replace the bolts that hold the intake manifold on. Took 1 hour.



And filling the brake resivoir is a pain. You need a funnel and tube. Oh the brake switches on all fords were recalled because some leak.
