I love to read and I hate it when I get stuck reading a book that's just so-so when I know there are so many great ones out there. My favorite authors are Tess Gerritsen, Michael Crichton, Chuck Palahniuk, and Jodi Picoult. I also have a weakness for Nicholas Sparks sometimes, and I love the Harry Potter series (but this does NOT mean I like Twilight). My favorite genres are mysteries, medical thrillers (a la Gerritsen), and just stories about everyday life type stuff (like Jodi Picoult's books). I am always up for a classic as long as it is an easy read, because I have to read books for school under a time limit. If your absolute favorite book sounds nothing like anything above, I will still check it out. Thanks in advance!Anyone read a good book lately?

if you like mysteries, and jodi picoult's style, check out both "into the woods" and "the likeness" by tana french. both amazing books. also, shutter island is great as well.
Have you tried Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series? The first one is All that Remains (Cornwell combines bone-rattling suspense with an insider's view of forensic science as her sleuth, Richmond, Va., medical examiner Kay Scarpetta, investigates a series of grim murders of young couples.)
Good ones I've read:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
A Maiden's Grave by Jeffery Deaver
Love in the Present Tense, Catherine Ryan Hyde
Water for Elephants, Sara Gruen
The Art of Racing in the Rain, Garth Stein
Moloka'i by Alan Brennert
Cleopatra's Daughter, Michelle Moran
Rainwater, by Sandra Brown
